While final results from the primary may not be known for weeks, preliminary numbers show that women could soon hold the majority of seats in the New York City Council. Former Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito joined Errol to discuss her campaign to get more women elected to the legislative body.

And she talked about her efforts to give Latino voters in New York more of a voice in government. She also explained why she’s been championing for the closure of Rikers Island, and weighed in on the debate around Puerto Rico’s future.
