Neil Barsky founded The Marshall Project almost five years ago to bring attention to the U.S. criminal justice system. Since then, the nonprofit news organization has won a Pulitzer Prize and its reporting has inspired the new Netflix series “Unbelievable.” Barsky joined Errol to talk about how the national conversation around criminal justice reform has changed in the past few years, including in the campaign for the White House.

He also weighs in on the debate over closing Rikers Island. And he discusses his storied career, from being a “vicious” Wall Street Journal reporter according to Donald Trump, to running two hedge funds and producing a documentary on former New York City Mayor Ed Koch.
