Temperatures last month did something that hasn’t happened since January.

There were some mild days in April but overall the month averaged cooler than normal. This is the 1st time temperatures for the month were below average since January. In February and March, temperatures were above average. April 14 was the warmest day with 79 degrees. The coldest reading was 38 degrees on April 12. April finished on a cool note with a streak of seven consecutive days with below average temperatures.

In terms of rain. There were lots of April showers. We had 11 days of rain. Overall, rainfall this past April totaled just over four and a half inches. This is more than a half inch above the average. Also, it was more than double the scant rain we saw in March. The wettest storm happened on both April 18 and 19. Over two inches of rain fell and there was highway and street flooding reported around the city.
