The MTA is boosting subway service along several train lines this summer, including three that take riders to city beaches, officials said Tuesday.

Riders can now expect enhanced midday and evening weekday service along the B, D, J and M lines, with trains arriving every eight minutes, Gov. Kathy Hochul and the MTA said in a press release.

They will also see enhanced weekend service along the 3 and 5 lines starting Saturday, July 6, with trains set to arrive every 10 minutes, the release said.

The Rockaway Park Shuttle, meanwhile, which typically has five train cars, will run with 10 train cars along an extended route between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. on weekends through Labor Day, according to the release.

The MTA will extend the shuttle’s route to Rockaway Boulevard, allowing passengers to connect to both Lefferts Boulevard- and Far Rockaway-bound A trains and adding four shuttle stops, at Rockaway Boulevard, Aqueduct Racetrack, Aqueduct-North Conduit Avenue and Howard Beach-JFK Airport.

“As July Fourth approaches, New Yorkers are planning their beach days. This is a fun time, and transit is by far the most affordable way to travel,” MTA Chair and CEO Janno Lieber said at a news briefing in Coney Island Tuesday morning. “It’s going to be even better this summer as we roll out new service enhancements on six subway lines, plus the Rockaway Park Shuttle.”

The MTA suggests taking the following trains and buses to get to city beaches:

Brooklyn beaches

  • The D, F, N, and Q stop at Coney Island, as do the B36, the B68 and B82 buses. Riders can also take a Coney Island-bound F or Q train to West 8th Street-New York Aquarium.
  • The B and Q subway lines, as well as the B1 and B68 buses, will take riders to Brighton Beach.
  • The B1 and B49 buses can get riders to Manhattan Beach.

Staten Island beaches

  • On Staten Island, the S51, S52 and S81 buses make stops at South Beach. The S51 and S81 also stop at Midland Beach.
  • The S76 and S86 buses can get riders to Cedar Grove Beach.
  • The Staten Island Railway (SIR) to Bay Terrace, as well as the S78 and S79 buses, can get riders to Great Kills Park.
  • The SIR to Prince’s Bay, as well as the S55 and S56 buses, can get riders to Wolfe’s Pond Beach.

Queens beaches

  • Two subway lines, five buses and the LIRR stop at Rockaway Beach. Riders can take either the A or Rockaway Park Shuttle, the LIRR to Far Rockaway or the Q22, Q35, Q53-SBS, Q52-SBS or Q114 buses. 

Bronx beaches

  • The Bx29 can get riders to City Island and Orchard Beach.
