The MTA is beefing up security in the wake of the threat by Iran.

The MTA police force and its anti-terrorism unit is a notable presence at Penn Station and Grand Central Terminal.

That includes officers with long guns and bomb-sniffing dogs.

The MTA says it's redeploying officers who were on low-priority assignments or desk duty.

"All of our police staff, as well as our crews, have also been given the information that there are heightened tensions across the United States right now and that they should be more vigilant than they normally are," said MTA Chief Security Officer Pat Warren.

"Seeing those big guns is kind of a little jarring a little bit. But I mean, if it's keeping everyone safe, then I don't mind it," said one commuter.

The MTA says they will continue to monitor the situation to see how long this heightened security will last.
