A federal judge today sided with the U.S. Naval Academy in an affirmative action case —denying an effort to prevent the military college from considering race and ethnicity in admissions decisions.
The case had been closely watched ever since the U.S. Supreme Court overturned affirmative action policies at Harvard and the UNC. Since that ruling, more than two dozen states have made efforts to ban or limit DEI initiatives.
Here in the city, a recent op-ed takes a closer look at the role of diversity, equity, and inclusion programs in schools.
Bill Kuhn, Head of School at the UES private school Birch Wathen Lenox, recently wrote in the New York Post, “The impact of traditional classroom DEI programs goes beyond identity categories. DEI in schools can push a single set of ideological views as virtuous.”
Kuhn joined “The Rush Hour” on Friday to discuss the essay.
