After months of discussion, analysis and a public comment period, the MTA board officially approved congestion pricing today. The board voted to charge most drivers $15 to enter Manhattan below 60th Street.

There will be some exemptions, including emergency vehicles and government vehicles and school buses.

Notably, yellow taxis and rideshare vehicles do not have to pay the toll. However, fares will increase $1.25 for taxis, and $2.50 for ride hail companies driving through the zone. Passengers will be responsible for paying the fees.

The New York Taxi Workers Alliance President Bhairavi Desai joined “The Rush Hour” on Wednesday to discuss the toll.
