Attorney General Pam Bondi is directing federal prosecutors to seek the death penalty for Luigi Mangione.

Mangione is accused of gunning down UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson outside of a Midtown hotel in December.

Along with the federal charges, he’s also facing state murder charges. He’s pleaded not guilty on the state charges, and has not entered a plea to the federal charges. The state case is expected to go to trial before the federal case.

Ron Kuby, defense and civil rights attorney, joined “The Rush Hour” on Tuesday with insight about what this means for both legal teams.
