BRONX, N.Y. — The New York Yankees are delaying Thursday's Opening Day game because of expected inclement weather, team officials said Wednesday.

The Yankees-Red Sox game will be played on Friday at 1:05 p.m. at Yankee Stadium.

The game was originally scheduled for Thursday at the same time, but was postponed after forecasters predicted heavy rain for most of the day.

Fans holding paid tickets for Thursday's game may use them for the rescheduled game, or exchange them for tickets to a similar regular season game at Yankee Stadium, according to the team.

More information regarding the team's rain check policy can be found at Yankees.com/raincheck.

The stadium will open to fans with valid tickets at 11 a.m. Friday with pregame ceremonies set to begin at 12:30 p.m.

The New York Mets game in Washington, D.C. has also been delayed, but only from 4:05 p.m. to 7:05 p.m. on Thursday, according to the Washington Nationals.
