New York Jets' middle linebacker C.J. Mosley will opt out of playing the 2020 NFL season due to coronavirus concerns, per ESPN sources.

Mosley is the second Jet to opt out due to coronavirus, with lineman Leo Koloamatangi announcing his decision not to play on July 28.

As the highest-paid player on the Jets, Mosley was due to make a total of $16 million this year. He signed a five-year, $85 million contract last season, after five years with the Baltimore Ravens. Because of this decision, Mosley's contract will now run through 2024 instead of 2023.

Last year, Mosley missed 14 games due to a groin injury that required surgery, but he said he was cleared for training camp in June.

The loss of Mosley comes on the heels of the depature of another great defender, All-Pro safety Jamal Adams, who was delt to Seattle in July.
