For many New Yorkers, Christmas would not be the same without midnight Mass on Christmas Eve.
St. Patrick's Cathedral is a popular place during the Christmas season for tourists and New Yorkers, especially on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
Cardinal Timothy Dolan, the archbishop of New York, will continue his annual tradition Sunday night of presiding over midnight Mass at St. Patrick's Cathedral.
Dolan joined anchor Rocco Vertuccio Sunday morning on NY1 to talk about his recent sickness, what Christmas means to him and the global conflicts that are currently taking place.
"It is almost as we bluntly recognize how things are so contrary to the beautiful message of Christmas, it is almost like in that recognition, we are saying, 'I need a savior. The world needs saving,"" Dolan said.
Dolan also discussed the influx of migrants that are arriving in the five boroughs, saying it is important to seperate the political and economic issues from the humanitarian crisis the city currently faces.
"I just keep thinking, there's gotta be a better way to handle this, folks," Dolan said.
