Four people were shot, including two children, outside a Bronx park by people riding on a scooter Tuesday evening, officials said.
The four victims are doing well and will recover from their injuries, NYPD Chief of Patrol John Chell said at a press conference Tuesday night after the shooting.
A 25-year-old man was shot once in the back and a 23-year-old man was shot multiple times, Chell said. A 6-year-old boy and 3-year-old boy, who are brothers, were both shot in the leg.
This is the second shooting in a week that involved a scooter. A scooter-riding gunman killed an 86-year-old man and wounded three others in a string of random shootings in Brooklyn and Queens Saturday, police say.
Tuesday’s shooting took place just before 6 p.m. outside St. James Park near 193rd Street, Chell said.
An "illegal" scooter pulled up to the park with two people on it wearing all black and masks, Chell said. The rear passenger got off the scooter and fired toward the park, striking the four victims.
Chell says that the perpetrators fled down 193rd Street on their scooter after the shooting. There is no known motive at this time, and officials do not know who the intended targets were.
