QUEENS, N.Y. — A Queens woman has been charged with murder after authorities say she stabbed her immigration lawyer to death.
Xiaoning Zhang, 25, was arrested Monday, according to the NYPD.
She was charged with second-degree murder and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon, according to a criminal complaint from the Queens district attorney's office.
Authorities allege that Zhang stabbed immigrant attorney Jim Li, 66, just before noon Monday inside a 39th Avenue office, near Union Street, in Flushing.
Police were immediately called to the scene and when officers arrived, authorities say they discovered Li unconscious and unresponsive with stab wounds to his body and neck.
Medics responded and transported Li to NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst, where he was later pronounced dead, authorities said.
Zhang was Li’s client prior to the alleged stabbing, officials with the Queens DA’s office said Wednesday.
According to the DA’s office, officers discovered two knives on Zhang’s person at the time of her arrest.
