Mayor Eric Adams’ criminal defense attorneys met with Justice Department lawyers in Washington, D.C., on Friday to negotiate the dismissal of federal charges filed against him, a source confirmed to NY1.
The news follows multiple published reports from earlier this week that indicated that senior Justice Department officials have been discussing with federal prosecutors the possibility of dropping the corruption case against Adams.
Adams was indicted in September on multiple charges, including wire fraud, bribery and accepting illegal campaign donations.
He pleaded not guilty and has a trial date set for April 21.
