On February, the sailor assigned to Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command at Fort Belvoir in Virginia searched the name “Joseph Biden" in the the military’s health computer system “out of curiosity,” the Navy said in a statement. A coworker reported the breach of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, or HIPAA. 

The sailor’s name has not been released.

The Naval Criminal Investigative Service opened an investigation, which concluded April 24. 

The Navy said an electronic record the sailor accessed was not Biden’s, adding that the system is secure and the president’s personal information was not compromised.

A defense official told Spectrum News the sailor was "held accountable administratively."
