City officials started handing out prepaid debit cards to migrant families.
The city said the pilot program will help bring down the costs of feeding migrants and put money back into local businesses.
A family of four with two children under five will receive about $350 each week through the end of their stay, according to officials.
The city said the program is expected to expand to about 115 families over the next week.
All families with a card will be required to sign an affidavit confirming they will only use the card to pay for food or baby supplies, the city said.
