NEW YORK — Kathryn Garcia’s final day before the start of early voting was much like the rest of her campaign: low-key and unassuming.

What You Need To Know

  • In last day before early voting, Garcia made several stops in the Bronx

  • Candidate's first public event was to endorse someone else, who didn't endorse her in turn

  • Garcia is set to cast her ballot Saturday in Brooklyn on the first day of early voting

She gave an endorsement Friday to a City Council candidate in the Bronx — “I am here to endorse Marjorie Velázquez” — even though she didn’t get one in return.

“I’m getting closer to making my endorsements,” Velázquez said.

Then, Garcia stopped passersby outside a supermarket in Co-op City, talking for as long as they’d like.

“I’m hoping to earn your No. 1 vote on Primary Day,” she told a pair of New Yorkers.

She later toured supportive housing by The Doe Fund.

NY1 asked the former sanitation commissioner why she takes such a muted approach. Her style is a stark contrast to the showmanship of Eric Adams and Andrew Yang.

“It is about the actual work, how is it going to impact their lives," Garcia said. "So it may be less rah-rah and more really intentional about asking them for their vote and being thoughtful about what they think they need.”

Garcia, selling herself as a fixer, has risen in the polls.

She plans to cast her ballot Saturday in Park Slope, then will be out until June 22 getting others to vote for her — in her understated way.

Asked after several campaign stops how she felt, her answer was succinct: "I feel great.”

On Friday, Garcia announced she will be ranked as the second-choice candidate of Reps. Grace Meng and Nydia Velázquez.
