NEW YORK — A Metro-North Railroad worker is suspended after calling out sick and joining the pro-Trump rally that ended with a mob storming the Capitol on Wednesday, MTA officials said.
William Pepe has been suspended without pay amid an FBI investigation into his role in the rioting, the MTA said Friday.
Sources said MTA Labor Relations will charge him in connection with the attack on the Capitol and with improperly charging his absence to sick leave. Those charges are expected to be filed next week.
According to sources, the MTA is seeking to terminate Pepe.
An MTA spokesperson said, “This alleged conduct is abhorrent and goes against the values of Metro-North, New York, and the nation.”
