The New York City Board of Elections is urging patience as it processes the record volume of absentee ballots used in last month's primaries coinciding with the coronavirus pandemic. 

The results of the absentee ballot count will determine the victors of several close congressional and state legislative races. 

Elections workers began opening the envelopes and tallying the ballots Monday on Staten Island and the process starts Wednesday in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, and the Bronx.
