Federal housing administrator Lynne Patton's temporary stay in city public housing takes her to the Fredrick Douglass Houses on the Upper West Side next week.
Patton spent this past week at a the Patterson Houses in the Bronx to see firsthand what NYCHA residents deal with everyday. She's expressed outrage with conditions after touring apartments and speaking with residents.
She says President Donald Trump shares her opinion. In a tweet, she wrote, "To those who wanted to know what my 'stay in @NYCHA' would accomplish, how about a direct call from @POTUS angry about the inhumane conditions of his fellow New Yorkers when #HUD gives $30 MILLION PER WEEK for repairs. The federal monitor will ensure its being spent effectively!"
Critics have called Patton's NYCHA stay a publicity stunt.
