Richland County, S.C. - The director of the Alvin S. Glenn Detention center has announced he is resigning. Crayman Harvey recently shared his resignation letter on LinkedIn. Harvey took over the troubled facility in August of 2023 following a short stint as the interim director.
"Thank you for entrusting me with the responsibility of leading this facility during one of its most challenging periods." Harvery wrote, "Nearly three years ago, I took on this role with a commitment to advancing best practices, and I could not have done it without your support— both in resources and belief. Your dedication to our shared vision has been invaluable, and I sincerely appreciate the confidence you placed in me."
Harvey oversaw a $100 million renovation at the facility. The facility now has a dedicated mental health unit to better foster at-risk individuals struggling in that area.
Harvey's resignation will officially go into effect April 14, 2025. Crayman also made sure to acknowledge the people he has worked alongside in his 20-year career.
"To my partners and colleagues, thank you for your unwavering support, guidance, and most of all, your friendship. The conversations we’ve shared, the challenges we’ve tackled, and the encouragement you’ve given me have meant more than I can express," wrote Harvey.
