The city’s Department of Community Services’ WorkHawaii Division announced it will hold a free hiring event from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 15 at the Blaisdell Exhibition Hall.

  • WorkHawaii will provide a resource center where job seekers can use laptops and printers

  • Something new is the Career Advancement Speaker Series in which business professionals, entrepreneurs and industry leaders will share their insight on career growth, starting a business or nonprofit, and navigating professional life in Hawaii

The effort is part of Mayor Rick Blangiardi’s Federal-to-Municipal Workforce Transition Initiative launched in February to address the displacement of federal employees and the urgent need to fill vacancies in city departments.

Job seekers attending the event will receive assistance by the city’s Department of Human Resources to ensure a smooth transition for anyone looking to apply their expertise in service to the community.

“Our city workforce is the backbone of the services we provide to the people of Oahu, and we are committed to strengthening it with dedicated, talented individuals,” said Blangiardi in a news release. “This hiring event is an incredible opportunity for job seekers to explore rewarding careers, including with the city, where they can make a real difference in our community.”

More than 80 employers from government agencies, businesses and nonprofits will be at the event.

WorkHawaii will provide a resource center where job seekers can use laptops and printers.

Admission is free with $8 public parking at the Blaisdell Center.
