It's March but we're still in the winter season for a few more weeks. All the cold weather recently means ski resorts are still operating. There are plenty of places in the North Carolina mountains to hit the slopes, and maybe the kids are begging to see snow just "one more time."

If you're ready to move on from winter, we've put together a list of other events and festivals happening across the state this weekend. 

Brick Fan Expo

Calling all LEGO lovers. Brick Fan Expo, a LEGO fan event, is happening in March 8-9 at the Park Expo and Convention Center in Charlotte.

"Come see amazing LEGO creations, large LEGO displays, fan creations, interactive zones, games, contests, STEM zones, speakers, and more," event organizers said. There will also be character meets, race ramps and build zones.

The expo runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. 

Rumba on the Lumber

Rumba on the Lumber kicks off Friday with live music and a food truck extravaganza, followed by a full day of events on Saturday. The festival will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.

There will be a races, arts and crafts, live music, a chili cook-off, a "duck derby" race, a bounce house for the kids and a beer garden for adults. All kinds of cool trucks and equipment will also be available to explore for "touch a truck."

It's happening at the Dick Taylor Plaza.

"Arts, Crafts, Food... you name it, we got it!" event organizers said. "All sorts of active fun for the children in your life, including a Dino Bounce House, an Iron Man Obstacle Course, a Monster Truck Slide, a Toy Block Bonanza Bounce House, a Soccer Challenge, a Frisbee Challenge, and a Rock Climbing Wall!"

The event is free.

Mac & Cheese Festival

Does it get any better than a mac and cheese festival? It depends who you ask.

Mac & Cheese Festival is coming to the Segra Stadium in Fayetteville, N.C., on Saturday.

Picture tasting a variety of different mac and cheese dishes while being entertained by live wrestling and an in-house DJ. 

It's happening Saturday at the Segra Stadium in Fayetteville, N.C. The event starts at 11 a.m. 

"This unique blend of culinary expertise, along with the exciting mix of music and live wrestling, all within the confines of Segra Stadium will create a mac & cheese festival unrivaled in the Fayetteville area," event organizers said.

Local craft vendors will also be on site. 

Food samples will cost $5 plus tax each for those inside the park.

North Carolina Rice Festival

Head to Brunswick County and learn about the area's rich history of rice cultivation and Gullah Geechee heritage.

The North Carolina Rice Festival is happening Saturday at Brunswick Town Fort Anderson in Winnabow, North Carolina. You'll hear from local historians and descendants.

The festival is from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

There will be drum music, a children's pavillion, crafts, food trucks and more. 

The event is free and open to the public.

Cabarrus Burger Madness

Restaurants across Cabarrus County are getting their best burgers ready for you to try, in hopes of getting your vote.

Cabarrus Burger Madness returned last weekend for a monthlong celebration. 

The contest features 20 restaurants. "This friendly, bragging-rights competition showcases the culinary creativity of our chefs and gives diners exciting new dishes to try," event organizers said. 

To join, sign up for the free Cabarrus Burger Madness mobile pass, where you can eventually vote for your favorite burger. 

Voting will be open from March 24-31. Diners must check in at the restaurant to vote.

Carolina Hurricanes in Raleigh

This does involve ice but it's indoors and there will be plenty of noise to to refocus your attention. The Carolina Hurricanes are playing the Winnipeg Jets at the Lenovo Center in Raleigh Sunday.

Also in North Carolina, college baseball is back. N.C. State University is playing Wright State University at 3 p.m. Friday.
