During Phase 8 of the Kalapawai Roundabout construction project, the city’s Department of Transportation Services will implement a continuous parking restriction in the Lanikai area to reduce traffic congestion.
The restriction begins Saturday and will continue from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily remaining in effect to the end of the Phase 8 construction period tentatively scheduled to conclude in mid-March.
No parking will be allowed on all streets and shoulders of Mokulua and Aalapapa Drives in Lanikai. Parking will also be restricted on cross streets connecting Mokulua and Aalapapa Drives.
DTS asks beachgoers to visit other beaches along Oahu’s east shore or ride TheBus Route 671 from Kailua town to access Lanikai.
There will be temporary “sawhorse” road signs on parking-restricted streets to warn drivers.
DTS urges motorists driving through the area to allow for extra time and expect congestion during work times.
