The Long Island Rail Road will also run on a Sunday schedule on Jan. 1.

The Metro-North Railroad, meanwhile, will offer hourly service, with extra trains along the New Haven Line and regular weekend service on the Wassaic, Danbury and Waterbury branches. The West of Hudson lines will operate on a weekend schedule.

The Staten Island Ferry will run on a holiday schedule, with service provided every 30 minutes throughout the day.
