With the holiday season fast approaching, city commuters will soon contend with a glut of Gridlock Alert days in Manhattan.
The city’s Department of Transportation designates the busiest traffic days of the year — days when Manhattan’s intersections are expected to be overwhelmed with motor vehicles — Gridlock Alert days.
New York City will see a total of 15 Gridlock Alert days before the new year, starting with one on Wednesday, Nov. 20.
The MTA advises commuters to use public transit on these days. The DOT also says commuters can walk or bike around the city.
