The federal holiday to mark Italian Heritage Day and Indigenous Peoples’ Day on Monday brings closures around the city.

All public schools and city and state government services, including the post office and DMV offices, will be closed.

Expect most banks to be closed as well, but the New York Stock Exchange will be open.

Planned service changes for transit are set to end 5 a.m. Monday, with a regular weekday schedule in effect.

There is also no trash, recycling or compost collection. If Monday is your usual collection day, material should be placed at the curb Monday evening for collection Tuesday.

The Columbus Day Parade also returns to Manhattan Monday.

The Columbus Citizens Foundation, which organizes the event, says it’s the largest celebration of Italian-American culture and heritage in the world.

Starting at 11:30 a.m., the parade marches up Fifth Avenue from 47th Street to 72nd Street with floats, marching bands and live performances.

On Randall’s Island, indigenous communities gathered Sunday for what organizers say is the largest Indigenous Peoples’ Day gathering on the East Coast.

Celebrating the event’s 10th anniversary this year, festivities include dancing, drum performances and spoken word readings to honor indigenous cultures throughout the country.

The free and open to the public event continues through Monday.
