The Trump campaign announced it raised $160 million across multiple committees in September and held $283 million in the bank headed into the final month of the 2024 election.
That’s roughly $30 million more than the campaign raised in August, but far less than what Harris raised that month: $361 million. The Harris campaign hasn’t released its September fundraising totals yet -- and they won’t be made public through the Federal Election Commission until the middle of October -- but it boasted of raising $27 million in a single night at a Sept. 22 event in New York City.
“President Trump continues to inspire millions of everyday Americans to join his America First movement and help fuel the campaign with their hard-earned money. In September, nearly 2.5 million donations under $200 were made,” Trump campaign senior advisor Brian Hughes said in a statement. “These supporters have allowed us to bank the funds we need as we move into the campaign’s final weeks.”
Four years ago, Trump raised nearly twice as much as he did this September, pulling in around $248 million in September 2020 while then-opponent Joe Biden raised $383 million that same month.
“Wow. The Trump campaign raised 88 million LESS than they did in the same month in *2020*,” Harris campaign spokesperson Ammar Moussa wrote on social media.
Trump was in Midland, Texas, on Wednesday for a major fundraiser, local news outlets reported. The fundraiser is being hosted by oil and gas billionaire Jeffrey Hildebrand and his wife Melinda Hildebrand, according to Bloomberg. The former president has repeatedly turned to oil and gas industry executives for campaign funds as he pursues reelection. House Democrats launched an investigation after Trump reportedly asked a group of industry executives for $1 billion in exchange for reversing Biden administration policies earlier this year.
