New York City Football Club, NYCFC, is partnering with the Randall’s Island Park Alliance to refurbish the stadium.

What You Need To Know

  • A $3 million investment from the New York City Football Club is coming to Icahn Stadium

  • The investment is a partnership with Randall's Island Park Alliance

  • NYCFC also announced a $7.5 million investment for York College

Queens Councilmember Francisco Moya negotiated the deal.

“These are the things you want to see from a franchise coming into New York from the get-go,” Moya said.

The money will help renovate the stadium — making it a state-of-the-art soccer facility.

NYCFC II’s team will play at the 5,000-seat stadium.

The renovations will also help the stadium to host fundraisers and allow for high-profile sport events - including for track and field, rugby and lacrosse.

The new stadium in Manhattan is in addition to the one the club expects to open in 2027 at Willetts Point, Queens.

“The fact that we have the beautiful game we call soccer is really expanding not just in the borough but throughout the city,” Moya said.

Another investment from NYCFC is what elected officials are calling a historic $7.5 million to York College.

“The largest investment York College has received from an individual donor,” Moya said.

City Council Speaker Adrienne Adams, who is an alumna of York College, was also at Tuesday’s announcement.

“What NYCFC has done for York today is going to impact students deserving students in southeast Queens year after year after year,” Adams said.

The first $2 million of the NYCFC donation to York College will go towards resources, including health and wellness programs, and renovations to the fitness center and athletics transportation.
