"Today Assamad Nash was held accountable for senselessly taking Christina Yuna Lee's life after he followed her into her own home," Bragg said in a statement. "Ms. Yuna Lee's family and loved ones were deprived of a daughter, sister, and friend. My thoughts are with her family and our community as they continue healing from this tragedy."

Nash was arrested in February 2022 after police said he walked into Lee’s building, followed her up to the sixth floor, pushed his way into her apartment and stabbed her over 40 times.

Court records reveal that Nash had a history of arrests, including charges of assault and harassment, prior to the fatal attack on Lee.

Lee's murder sparked widespread outrage within the Asian American community, occurring during a year marked by a sharp increase in anti-Asian incidents.
