New York, we’ve got yet another solar extravaganza coming our way this week.

Manhattanhenge — when the setting sun lines up perfectly with the east-to-west street grid of Manhattan — is set to occur on Tuesday, May 28, at 8:13 p.m., and Wednesday, May 29, at 8:12 p.m.

Traditionally, the best viewing spots are along the city’s east-west thoroughfares:

  • 14th Street
  • 23rd Street
  • 34th Street
  • 42nd Street
  • 57th Street

Go farther east and you’ll have more dramatic viewing angles as the sun hits building facades on either side.

It is also possible to see Manhattanhenge across the East River in the Long Island City section of Queens.

Check in with our local forecast here to make sure cloudy skies won’t diminish the opportunity to soak in the awe-inspiring experience.

If clouds do crop up, fear not: The phenomenon will return for another two nights in mid-July.
