State Sen. Zellnor Myrie announced that he is considering a run against Eric Adams in the Democratic primary for mayor next year.

Myrie currently represents central Brooklyn, including the neighborhoods of Crown Heights, Park Slope, and Prospect Heights. It’s also the same seat Mayor Adams previously held.

His announcement comes as Adams’ approval rating hit a record low last year following his handling of the migrant crisis, as well as federal investigations involving his campaign. Some lawmakers are also unhappy with Adams’ budget cuts to schools, parks and libraries.

Myrie, who is also the chair of the state Senate Elections Committee, joined NY1 political reporter Bobby Cuza on “Inside City Hall” Wednesday to discuss more.

“This administration has been fumbling the nuts and bolts of government, and I think frankly, they have disappointed many New Yorkers that I am speaking to,” he said.
