Rates for using parking meters are going up in Manhattan on Monday.
The rates will increase by at least 20%, taking effect on a rolling basis, and all costs will vary by location, demand and duration of parking.
Manhattan will be the first borough to see the increase, followed by Queens on Oct. 27, Brooklyn on Nov. 9, the Bronx on Nov. 22 and Staten Island on Nov. 28.
With the new rates, the first hour will cost $5.50, up by 22%, and the second hour will increase to $9, up by 20% from $7.50.
Parking meters for passenger cars in areas south of 96th Street will go up $1 and cost an additional $1.50 for each subsequent hour.
New meter fees will vary depending on the neighborhood north of 96th Street.
According to the city’s Department of Transportation, the rates will increase the most in high demand Manhattan neighborhoods.
