In “Tenderheart," author Hetty Lui McKinnon, a Chinese-Australian chef and James Beard Foundation finalist, celebrates the vegetarian ingredients from her upbringing.

The recipes and memories she shares also pay homage to her father.

McKinnon writes that food “is tied to my identity, my heritage, my family, and my community,” and that through this food “I have found a way to stay connected to my dad.”
