Three men have been charged with a hate crime after police say they fired a gel-based pellet gun at a Hasidic woman and her son in Brooklyn Tuesday night.
Police say the men were driving on Kent and Park Avenues around 8:30 p.m. when they spotted the 47-year-old woman and her 23-year-old son.
The victims were walking along the street when the incident occurred and called 911 immediately afterwards, according to the NYPD.
Police soon after stopped a white sedan nearby with three men seated inside, authorities say.
Police say 38-year-old Jacob Hernandez, the driver of the vehicle, was charged with assault as a hate crime, assault, aggravated harassment, criminal possession of a weapon and hit him with a motor vehicle violation.
The two other men seated inside the car, according to police, were also charged with assault as a hate crime, assault, aggravated harassment, and criminal possession of a weapon.
As of Wednesday night, all three men were awaiting arraignment.
