Police are looking for a group of women who authorities say robbed, assaulted and pepper sprayed a for-hire driver back in July.
Police say the incident took place shortly before 5 a.m. on July 8 near Melrose Ave. and East 158th Street in the Bronx.
After informing a group of women there were too many passengers for him to safely transport, the 23-year-old driver was punched, pepper sprayed and robbed of his phone, according to police.
News of the incident follows a string of attacks against for-hire drivers, including the deadly assault of cab driver Kutin Gyimah, who was attacked by a group of young people who did not pay their fare. Three individuals were later arrested and charged in connection to the incident.
Police are calling upon anyone with information in regard to the July 8 incident to contact the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
