Former Mayor Bill de Blasio is headed to Harvard for the fall semester as a teaching fellow, the prestigious university announced Wednesday morning.

According to a Harvard spokesperson, the former mayor will join its Institute of Politics at the Harvard Kennedy School as a visiting fellow, and appear at the campus several times throughout the semester for a “variety of discussions, events, and programming.”

“I am happy to join the IOP to help inspire our nation’s next generation of leaders to find ways to serve in politics and public service, and to build a government that serves working people,” de Blasio said in a statement.

Since leaving office, de Blasio launched a congressional bid for the newly redrawn 10th District, which encompasses his home in Park Slope. He later dropped out.

“Mayor de Blasio’s decades of experience in local government, federal agencies, national campaigns, and running the largest city in the country will provide invaluable insight to our students and the Harvard community,” IOP Interim Director Setti Warren said in a statement. “We are excited to welcome Mayor de Blasio to campus as we look for pathways forward on the challenges."
