Police arrested a man early Saturday morning in connection to the stabbing of a security guard at an Upper East Side Chase Bank Friday.
Jorge Santiago of Manhattan was arrested around 1 a.m. Saturday for attempted murder, assault and criminal possession of a weapon, police said.
Early Friday morning, a security guard, 59, was slashed in the neck inside of a bank on the Upper East Side, according to the NYPD.
Police sources said Santiago tried to enter a Chase Bank on East 86th Street shortly before 9 a.m., however a guard told him the bank was still closed.
Since Santiago was frustrated that the bank was letting its employees in before 9 a.m., he approached a teller once the bank opened up and started acting “belligerent,” sources said.
NYPD and sources said when Santiago was told to leave by a manager and security guard, an argument occurred and led him to slash the guard in the neck.
According to police, the guard was taken to NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center in a serious but stable condition. There are no updates on the guard's conditions, police said.
