QUEENS — One week after two teenagers drowned after a sandbar collapsed underneath them in Jamaica Bay, two more people have drowned at Rockaway Beach, police say.
According to the NYPD, a 16-year-old girl was pulled from the water at Beach 108th Street in critical condition Friday evening.
She was rushed to St. John’s Episcopal Hospital where she was later pronounced dead, police say.
In an unrelated incident, a boy authorities describe as between 18 and 20 years old was pulled from the water at Beach 98th Street.
EMS transported the child to St. John’s Episcopal Hospital as well, where he was later pronounced dead.
Details on what led up to both incidents are still unknown at this time.
This is a developing story.
