The NYPD on Friday unveiled a pair of plaques dedicated to fallen Detectives Jason Rivera and Wilbert Mora, who were shot and killed in Harlem in January. 

The department added plaques honoring Rivera, 22, and Mora, 27, to a Line of Duty Death Memorial Wall inside Harlem’s 32nd Precinct, where Rivera and Mora were stationed. 

The two officers died after they were shot while responding to a domestic disturbance call in Harlem on Jan. 21. 

“Today, we honor the lives of two young detectives at the dawn of their careers, and express our profound gratitude for the work they chose to do, what their valor called them to do, the profession they loved,” NYPD Commissioner Keechant Sewell said at a ceremony held before the unveiling.

Mora and Rivera “were two promising and exceptional officers,” Sewell said, adding that their “dedication to the Harlem community and the men and women of the NYPD was unwavering.” 

“As we unveil the plaques upon the wall of the 3-2, the names of our heroes will forever be memorialized for the next generation of the NYPD to honor. They now join their fellow fallen officers of the 3-2 who gave their lives in the storied history of service to this city,” the commissioner said.

“Today we honor the pledge we made to them: that we will never forget who they were, how they lived and how they were stolen from us,” she added.
