A 17-year-old boy was shot a block away from a Queens high school Wednesday afternoon, according to police.

The teenager, who was taken to Elmhurst Hospital and is expected to survive, dashed into Maspeth High School after suffering a gunshot wound to the left arm shortly before 2 p.m., police say.

Police say they believe the victim attends Maspeth High School.

The school was put on a “hard lockdown” immediately afterwards, according to Department of Education Spokesperson Nathaniel Tyler. That lockdown was lifted just before 3 p.m., the NYPD’s School Safety Division announced via Twitter.

Police say multiple people fled the scene on mopeds, down 74th Street.

Two people were later taken in for questioning by police, according to authorities, but they were released and were no longer considered person of interest.

Police have asked the public to avoid the area of Grand Avenue and 74th Street in Maspeth, and to expect road closures and heavy traffic delays due to an investigation.
