NEW YORK — Police in Manhattan say a homeless man is facing charges after he allegedly hit a 6-year-old in the head with an unknown object over the weekend.
Investigators say the suspect, identified as Michael Johnson, 60, has a history of 50 prior arrests.
Police say the boy was with his father when Johnson attacked the boy around 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of West 114th Street and Manhattan Avenue in Morningside Heights.
The NYPD says the boy was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries, but is expected to be okay.
Police say Johnson has been charged with assault and endangering the welfare of a child.
