NEW YORK — The iconic Times Square New Year's Eve ball is getting ready for the big show.

Crews on Monday installed 192 new Waterford crystal triangles on the ball to officially ring in 2022.

The Times Square Alliance says this year's design celebrates the "Gift of Wisdom."

The ball itself is 12 feet in diameter and weighs almost 12,000 pounds.

It will be covered with a total of nearly 2,700 Waterford crystal triangles that vary in size.

Earlier this week the city announced a scaled-down version of the New Year's Eve celebration this year due to rising COVID cases.

The city is only allowing 15,000 people in Times Square.

LL Cool J, Journey and Karol G are just some of the big names taking the stage for “Dick Clarke’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve."

The crowd will be let in much later than normal at 3:00 p.m.

Proof of vaccination will be required and face coverings must be worn.
