NEW YORK — The Suffolk County Executive is set to announce his pick to be the next police commissioner today, and it's a familiar face for the city.

Multiple sources confirm that Rodney Harrison will be picked for the job.

Harrison is a 30-year veteran of the NYPD whose career began in June 1991.

He is currently the NYPD's highest-ranking uniformed officer and the first person to ever rise from cadet to chief of the nation's largest police department.

He announced his retirement from the department last month.
