The Macy’s Fourth of July fireworks is expected to go out with a bang as the show returns Sunday, after a hiatus last year due to the pandemic.

The display will light up the sky once again in what's expected to be the city's biggest fireworks show yet.

65,000 shells and effects will be launched from barges along the East River in Manhattan - that's compared to 25,000 in 2019.

The show will start just before 9:30 p.m.

The NYPD will also set up public viewing locations on elevated portions of FDR Drive in Manhattan. Entry points are located at East 23rd, East 34th and East 42nd streets.

The fireworks will not be visible from the following areas:

  • Battery Park
  • Battery Park City
  • South Street Seaport
  • Brooklyn Bridge Park
  • Brooklyn Heights Promenade
  • Grand Ferry Park
  • Hunter's Point South Waterfront Park
  • Roosevelt Island

Governor Cuomo announced a list of landmarks that will be lit up in red, white, and blue to commemorate Independence Day.

In the city, those include the One World Trade Center, the Mario Cuomo Bridge, Grand Central Terminal and Penn Station, just to name a few.
