Police have arrested at least eight people after clashes broke out in Washington Square Park on Sunday following the day's Pride festivities.
Video from the scene shows a large police presence with many of the officers on bikes.
Some witnesses told NY1 they saw officers mace members of the crowd after they were heckled and had water bottles thrown at them.
Those arrested include a 23-year-old woman who has been charged with assault for throwing a bottle at a police officer. A 20-year-old woman is charged with assault, for biting a lieutenant. A 29-year-old man is charged with resisting arrest. And a 30-year-old male is charged with breaching a barricade.
