NEW YORK — The Trump Organization is suing the city for canceling its contract to run a golf course in the Bronx.
Mayor Bill de Blasio's office ended the deal after the former president’s supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol in January.
But the lawsuit calls the move politically motivated, and says nothing in the original contract gave the city the right to cancel it.
The Trump Organization wants the city to allow it to keep running the golf course, or pay millions of dollars to buy it out.
The city said Trump was clearly in breach of the contract terms and it will "vigorously defend" its decision.
Under terms of the contract, the city can terminate its deal with Trump at any time without cause.
But it would have to compensate his company for money it invested in building a clubhouse on the course.
