A new state bill proposes creating an official advisory committee with the MTA that will improve bike and pedestrian access to MTA bridges and stations.
These MTA bridges include RFK, Throggs Neck, and Whitestone Bridges.
Assemblywoman Jessica Gonzalez-Rojas says this would improve safety for cyclists and open up the city.
"It's so, so important for the health and well-being of our community. And we want to make sure that everyone has access to enjoy the whole city," Gonzalez-Rojas said.
The Queensboro Bridge is one of the few that has designated lanes for both pedestrian and cyclists and will serve as a model as to what the MTA bridges can look like in the future.
