NEW YORK - The subway's OMNY payment system has recorded more than 21 million taps.
The MTA released a new video, showing how to use it.
The tap-and-go payment system launched in May of 2019 and is set to replace Metro Cards completely by 2023.
"The OMNY system can't be stopped. Even a pandemic can't stop the OMNY express. It's key that our folks know how easy this system is to use. It's as easy as tap and go,” said Al Putre, an OMNY Program Executive.
OMNY is available in 77 percent of subway stations, including all stations in Manhattan, the Bronx and Staten Island.
But the system currently accounts for just eight-point-five percent of all fares paid at stations where OMNY is available.
