NEW YORK - The man who helped police make an arrest in Sunday's subway derailment is being hailed a hero and now has a year of free subway and bus rides.

Rikien Wilder jumped onto the tracks at 14th Street in Chelsea to remove construction material that police say was thrown by Demetrius Harvard.

Wilder alerted MTA workers, while Harvard allegedly threw more debris, which derailed an "A" train.

The MTA says Wilder then chased down Harvard and held him on the station mezzanine until police arrived.

"I felt very angry I was disturbed, I was in shock, watching him smile then watching the train wreck, the fire, the smoke.  It was like being on a Hollywood set," Wilder said.

The first car of the train scraped four columns that separate the northbound express track from the southbound express track.

No one was hurt.

Harvard is facing multiple charges including reckless endangerment and criminal mischief.
